I built KVMedia because I kept running into the same problem.

When I needed help with my home media server — or wanted to know which coffee grinder was actually worth buying — I'd find one of two things: thin affiliate content written by someone who'd clearly never plugged in the product, or a Reddit thread that started useful and then went completely sideways.

Neither of those is what I needed. And I'm guessing it's not what you need either.

What KVMedia is

KVMedia is a curated resource hub for people who want to actually understand things before they decide whether to use them. I cover home media servers (I run Unraid — it breaks constantly, I wouldn't trade it), AI tools that are genuinely useful rather than just impressive, tech deals worth caring about, and coffee gear for people who've gone too far down the rabbit hole. Which describes me, for the record.

Everything here is written from actual use. I buy the hardware, install the software, burn the first batch of pour-overs, and write about what I figured out. No sponsored posts. No brand deals. If I recommend something, it's because it worked for me and I think it'll work for you.

Who this is for

Curious people. Specifically, the kind of person who runs their own media server instead of just paying for another streaming subscription. Who asks why before they buy. Who thinks there's probably a right way to make coffee and wants to find it. Who reads the manual — or at least the relevant parts of it.

You're not looking for the fastest answer. You're looking for the right one. That's who I'm writing for, because that's who I am.
